The 8th Annual Old Parish Turkey Trot took place on Sunday 27th November 2016 with the start and finish line at the Marine Bar.
A total of 160 runners and around 120 walkers took part in the event this year as the overnight frost cleared to leave a beautiful morning. The stewards were out early to ensure the course was safe for all the runners and walkers and everyone warmed up with tea, coffee and sandwiches provided by the Marine Bar afterwards.
The generosity of all those who took part, organised, and other sponsorship acquired meant that a fantastic €3,740 was raised for SERT.
Elizabeth Walsh spoke on behalf of SERT at the prize presentation, a worthy local charity that provides essential transport to cancer patients requiring radiotherapy treatment. The buses are driven by volunteers and all funds raised go towards maintenance and running costs of the vehicles.
